A year at our school
A year at our school is filled with enriching events and opportunities that support student growth, learning, and community connection. From engaging academic programs and sporting carnivals to cultural celebrations and creative arts performances, each event is designed to inspire and motivate students.
Beyond the classroom, students benefit from a supportive environment where they build friendships, develop confidence, and grow as individuals. Our school community works together to ensure every child feels valued and encouraged to achieve their best, making each year memorable and rewarding.

Kinder Transition to School
Our Transition to School program supports children and families as they prepare to start their learning journey with us. It includes three visits to the school, giving children the chance to explore classrooms, meet teachers, and become familiar with the school environment in a relaxed and welcoming setting.

Swimming Carnival
Our annual swimming carnival in Term 1 for students aged 8 years and above is held at the Glenbrook Pools. This exciting event offers students the chance to compete in a variety of swimming races, showcase their skills, and enjoy a fun day of friendly competition. K-2 Water Fun Day
Our K–2 Water Fun Day is a splash-filled celebration. Students enjoy a variety of safe and exciting water activities designed to encourage active play, teamwork, learn about water safety and lots of laughter. From water relays to bubble making and playful challenges, it’s a day where friendships flourish, energy runs high, and memories are made.

Cross Country Carnival
Our cross country carnival in Term 1 each year gives students the chance to run along a well-marked bush track adjacent to the school. This course provides a great opportunity to enjoy fresh air and nature while building fitness and endurance in a supportive, outdoor setting. Students are selected to represent Warrimoo PS at the Zone Cross Country carnival held at Penrith Lakes.

Harmony Day
Harmony Day is a much-loved annual celebration at our school, where students and staff come together to recognise and embrace the rich cultural diversity of our community. On this day, students are invited to wear traditional cultural dress or the colour orange, symbolising harmony and mutual respect.
The day promotes inclusiveness, belonging and respect for all, reflecting the core values that unite us as Australians. Through shared activities and celebrations, our students enthusiastically honour the spirit of Harmony Day, creating a vibrant and memorable occasion for all.

ANZAC Day
We take immense pride in our students for their respectful and reflective participation in our school’s ANZAC Day service. Their thoughtful conduct demonstrates a deep appreciation for the significance of this national day of remembrance.
Each year, our students honour the occasion by representing Warrimoo Public School at the local ANZAC Day Service, where they proudly take part in the ANZAC Day March through Springwood, walking alongside veterans, community members and other schools to pay tribute to Australia’s service men and women.
These commemorations provide valuable opportunities for our students to connect with history, show gratitude, and represent our school with pride and respect.

Stage 3 Camp
Stage 3 students enjoy enriching experiences that support their learning and personal growth. Each year, they either take an educational tour of Canberra with a day trip to the snowfields or attend an action-packed outdoor camp.
The Canberra excursion offers insights into Australian history, democracy, and government through visits to key national institutions. In alternate years, the camp focuses on building resilience, teamwork, and leadership through outdoor activities.
Both experiences extend learning beyond the classroom, fostering independence, collaboration, and a deeper understanding of the world.

Winmalee Cup
The Winmalee Cup is an exciting annual sports carnival bringing together Blue Mountains schools for a day of friendly competition at Jamison Park, Penrith in soccer and netball. Students showcase their skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship while representing their schools with pride.
This vibrant event celebrates physical fitness, school spirit, and community connection, providing a fantastic opportunity for students to challenge themselves and make lasting memories with peers.

Walk Safe to School Day
Each year, many of our students gather on the north side of the highway, where they safely cross the bridge and walk to school together. Staff members accompany and support the students along the route, ensuring a safe and enjoyable journey. This event promotes road safety, healthy habits, and a sense of community as students start their day actively and together.
100 Days Brighter
We celebrate 100 days of learning, growth, and discovery each year in Term 3! This special day marks an important milestone for our Kinder students as it marks the day they have been at school for 100 days of learning. Through fun activities, reflection, and joyful learning experiences, we recognise the progress each child makes since the start of the year. It’s a day to celebrate effort, curiosity, and the excitement of learning together as a school community.
Book Week
Book Week is a much-loved celebration at our school that fosters a love of reading and storytelling. Throughout the week, students enjoy a variety of literacy activities that showcase the power of books to inspire and entertain.
A highlight is the annual Book Character Parade, where students and staff dress as their favourite literary characters. This joyful event brings our community together to celebrate creativity and imagination. Parents and friends are also invited to purchase books at our Book Fair on the day.
Grandparents Day - Education Week
We warmly invite grandparents to join us during Education Week to celebrate Grandparents Day. It’s a special opportunity for grandparents to visit classrooms, share their wisdom, and connect with students as part of their learning journey.
Visitors can also explore our Book Fair in the library, where stories and knowledge come alive for all ages. This day honours the valuable role grandparents play in supporting and enriching our school community, celebrating the legacy of love, guidance, and lifelong learning they provide.

NAIDOC Day Celebration
Our school proudly celebrates NAIDOC Day as a meaningful opportunity to honour and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. In partnership with local community members and Elders, we come together to engage in culturally rich activities that deepen students’ understanding and respect for First Nations cultures.
The celebration features collaborative art projects inspired by Indigenous traditions, as well as sporting events that promote teamwork and community spirit. These experiences foster strong connections between our students, families and the wider community, creating a respectful and inclusive environment that celebrates the ongoing contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Blue Mountains Dance Festival
Each year students participate in the Blue Mountains Dance Festival held at Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre, Penrith. This provides students with:
- quality learning experiences for students in the performing arts.
- opportunities in dance to perform publicly at a professional local venue.
- involvement in the many facets of production.
- opportunities to view and appreciate dance items from many other local public schools.

RFS Get Ready Weekend - Bushfire Safety Day
Our school proudly supports the Warrimoo Rural Fire Service (RFS) Get Ready Weekend, a key community event promoting bushfire awareness and preparedness. Leading up to the event, students learn about fire safety, emergency planning, and the RFS’s vital local role.
Through art, writing, and inquiry, students create projects that share important safety messages. These are displayed during Get Ready Weekend, highlighting student voices and raising community awareness.
By participating, we strengthen ties with local RFS volunteers and help build a safer, better-informed community.

Swim School
Our swim school program provides students with the chance to develop essential water safety skills and improve their swimming techniques in a safe, supportive environment. Open to all ages and abilities, the program focuses on building confidence, endurance, and competence in the water.
Swimming is a vital life skill, and our program helps prepare students for a lifetime of safe and enjoyable aquatic activities.

Year 6 Fun Day

Everyone gets involved in activities such as face painting, Nerf games, and sport challenges, making it a fun-filled day of teamwork, creativity, and friendly competition. It’s a fantastic opportunity for students of all ages to come together, enjoy themselves, and celebrate community spirit.

African drumming
Our students experience the exciting rhythms and vibrant energy of African drumming. Through hands-on workshops, they learn traditional drumming techniques, explore cultural stories behind the music, and develop skills in rhythm, coordination, and teamwork. The sessions are engaging, inclusive, and a wonderful way for students to express themselves creatively while connecting with a rich musical tradition

Transition to School
Our Transition to School program supports children and families as they prepare to start their learning journey with us. It includes three visits to the school, giving children the chance to explore classrooms, meet teachers, and become familiar with the school environment in a relaxed and welcoming setting.
Children also have the opportunity to attend special events during the transition period, helping them feel connected and confident before their first day. This program ensures a smooth and positive start to school life for every child.

Gymnastics Program
Students engage in targeted gymnastics program with fully qualified specialist teachers.

Transition to High School
Working alongside Blaxland High School staff, we engage in a transition to high school program that supports students preparing to move to high school by offering several half-day visits during Term 4. These visits give students the chance to experience high school classrooms, meet teachers and peers, and become familiar with the new environment.
This approach helps ease anxiety, build confidence, and ensure students feel ready for the exciting next step in their education journey.
